Course Objectives and Outcomes

After completing this course

  • Students will know about the Basic Principles governing planning of diets.
  • Students will be able to enumerate the various factors affecting the choice of diet and methods of assessing nutrient requirements
  • Students will be able to effectively use food exchange lists for diet planning
  • Students would know the nutritional requirements and RDAs for the various stages of life.
  • Students will be able to plan meals according to nutrient requirements, for each stage in the life cycle.
  • Students will know about nutritional considerations during special conditions for various stages of life.
  • Through practice during the sessions students will learn to plan various diets and to calculate the nutritive value of various menus.

  • Growth and development, growth reference/standards, RDA, nutritional guidelines, nutritional concerns, and healthy food choices.
